The Bryan County Bark Park announces a Yappy Hour celebration of National Dog Day at Fish Tales Restaurant on Tuesday Aug. 26 when the opening date of the community’s dog park will be announced.
“The sentiments behind National Dog Day are the same as those of the Bark Park which are to embrace the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and abuse-free life,” said Bark Park President Wendy Bolton. “We will be announcing details of the opening date of the Bark Park at the National Dog Day celebration ... Completion of the handicapped access ramp at the Bark Park is underway and fencing will be erected next so stay tuned.”
National Dog Day has been celebrated since 2004 and serves to help the public recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep humans safe and bring comfort. The day is also designed to bring awareness to the millions of dogs euthanized each year because they are unwanted and to ask people to consider adoption.
The Bark Park is supporting the Bryan County Animal Control in the adoption of shelter animals. Attendees who donate dog or cat food will be given a raffle ticket to enter into a prize drawing for a goody basket. Fish Tales Restaurant owners Butch and Sherri Broome will donate a percentage of all proceeds to park.
