The Richmond Hill Lions Club met May 22 at the Wetland Center in J.F. Gregory Park.
Four new members were inducted into membership:  Diane Greene — sponsor: Bobby Hall; Kenton Greene — sponsor: Tommy Brookshire; Charlotte London — sponsor: Chip Nedza; and Andrew Hoke, who was sponsored was his father, Joseph.
Andrew Hoke was scheduled to travel to Kosovo today for training as a Peace Corps volunteer.
He was selected to be part of a group of 25 volunteers who will teach English to high-school students.
This will be the first Peace Corps team to be sent to Kosovo. In addition to teaching, the team also will try to build solid relationships with community leaders in order to strengthen the program’s future there.
Hoke will have three months of intensive language, cultural and technical training when he arrives in Kosovo. Then, he will serve two years in his assigned school there.
