TIFTON – The Georgia Museum of Agriculture is offering free admission to all military personnel and their families through Labor Day.
The offer is supported by Blue Star Museums, the collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. This is the second year the Georgia Museum of Agriculture has participated in the Blue Star Museums program.
“The Blue Star Museums program offers an excellent opportunity to introduce the rich, rural heritage of South Georgia to the military and their families,” museum assistant director Garrett Boone said.
The Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village at ABAC is one of 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel including National Guard and Reserve and their families through Labor Day. The program provides families an opportunity to experience the nation’s cultural heritage and learn more about their new communities after a military move.
The program is available to any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card; a DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID); or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card, which includes active-duty U.S. military — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and members of the National Guard and Reserve; U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps; NOAA Commissioned Corps; and up to five family members.
The Georgia Museum of Agriculture at ABAC in Tifton resides on more than 96 acres and includes a country store, museum hall, art gallery, historic village, peanut museum and conference facilities.
For more information, call 229-391-5205 or email Garrett Boone at gboone@abac.edu.
