In response to customer requests to expand its book sale, the Friends of the Richmond Hill Library is starting the “In-the-Bookroom” Sale. The first will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the library on Ford Avenue.
FOL hopes to offer this type of sale at least twice a month. This event will afford customers more frequent sales at different hours and days than the fundraising group’s annual spring and fall book sales.
The sales will take place in the Friends room at the library and will offer customers access to the group’s entire inventory rather than the small selection of stock housed in the for-sale area of the library.
If patrons have suggestions for other days and times, they are asked to let FOL members know at the sale or leave information about preferences with the staff at the library. FOL members are committed to holding this sale on the week day, including Saturday, that best suits buyers.
As always, book sale prices will be bargain prices, far below that of book stores that feature new or used stock and online sellers, such as Amazon or E-Bay. Romance, mystery and adventure paperbacks are 25 cents each.
General fiction trade paperbacks are 50 cents. Hardback book prices are usually $1 or less, depending on age and condition.
All funds generated by book sales are used to support library programs. Last month, the Friends donated $1,000 to the library’s summer reading program, which benefits a number of local youth.
FOL is also working toward a goal of $20,000 to contribute to the library new facility when that project is underway.
