Join the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce, Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler and others for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Game Changers Health and Fitness Complex at 10 a.m. Tuesday on the corner of Ford Avenue and Camilla Street.
The center is the brainchild of Ron Elliott, co-owner of Georgia Game Changes Running Company, who envisioned the expansion plan that will include not only an improved and expanded running company, but also a “partnership of sorts” with other health and fitness related businesses.
Coastal Therapy, a locally-owned physical therapy company, will join Game Changers in the first phase of the complex. As a part of the expansion plan, Elliott is also looking to include a bike shop, a smoothie bar, a functional training gym and other business owners who have a health and fitness mindset and focus.
“We hope the complex will be a central meeting point for those who want to be fit and healthy,” Elliott said. “We would love to have a restaurant with a health-oriented-based menu to complement all of the other activities that will be taking place in the center.”
The new center will be completed in phases and will include a 16,000-square-foot building and a 200-meter rubberized track. The track will be multi-purpose and be available for both training clinics held at the store, as well as be a place where runners and walkers in the community will be able to train and practice.
Elliott said he is also hoping to find the ideal health food-based restaurant to occupy the prime, front-acre space.
Game Changers, owned and operated by Elliott and his wife, Sandra Elliott, has been a part of Richmond Hill and the Coastal Georgia running community for nearly two years. It is a natural running company, which means the store features shoes and accessories not necessarily found at the more traditional running stores.
“Our store’s motto is, “Don’t let a setback, keep you from a comeback,” said Elliott. “We truly hope that Game Changers Health and Fitness Complex will be place for people to ‘change their game’ in more ways than one. We hope to be a part of many more special fitness journeys in Richmond Hill, as we find ways to help our visitors to dream big while providing them with the products and services they need to achieve their goals.”
