The Bryan County Middle School soccer team showed some real improvement this year as Coach Tracy Robinson and Coach Kim Greeson led the charge.
They were able to compete with some tough competition and showed an increase in overall participation.
The BCMS tracks teams did well during the regular season and had some outstanding efforts at the region track meet.
The boys were coached by myself and Allen Wallace again this year and we saw great things out of Jaylin James, Devontae Anderson,Caleb Johns, Caleb Conley, David Friedberg, Jason Strickland and several others.
The girls track team captured their 2nd straight region runner up trophy this year.
The team was led by Antoniqua Gaines, Arielle Moody, Jabrai Boyd ,Jaylaya Kendrick, Jay Black and Tekerriya Davis.
Sixth-graders Kourtney Marsh, Hannah Barnard and Brooklyn Hewitt turned in great efforts at region.
Gaines almost captured the high point award for best female athlete at the region meet again this year.
Coach Donaldson did a wonderful job of getting the girls ready for region and really working to be one of the better teams in our region.
Coach Cindy Bennett did a good job of working with the distance runners and giving them great tips that helped during the season.
I was very proud of the coaches and the kids for wanting to compete at a high-level.
Bryan County Middle School baseball had a good 2014 campaign. The team finished the regular season with and undefeated regular season record and clinched a number No. 1 seed going into the playoffs.
The team came up a little short of a title due to a tough loss to Jenkins County in the second round.
The team was led by a good group of 8th graders Dahlson Brown, Gage Hagan, Gavin Thompson, Charlie Flint, Caleb Johns and Jeremy Foster.
The group has a good core of 7th and 6th graders coming back next year and look to be competitive. The coaches of the team were James Williams and Al Butler this year.
As athletic director, I am proud of each kid participating in our sports programs this year. I am also thankful for the time and effort that our coaches put in trying to make our kids the best and thankful for the support of our administration this year.
We hope to show more improvement next year and increase participation in our sports programs as a whole.
Coach Mincey is athletic director at BCMS as well as head girls’ basketball coach at Bryan County High School. He also serves as an assistant football and track coach at the high school level.
