The Richmond Hill Lions Club met March 27 at the J.F. Gregory Park Wetland Center.
The club was honored by a visit from the STAR student Robbie Hester, STAR teacher Joey Traywick and Robbie’s father, Chip Hester. Mike Bush presented Robbie Hester and Traywick with their STAR certificates. The club’s sponsorship of the Richmond Hill High School STAR program dates back many years.
President Rick Gardner inducted Jane Walden, sponsored by husband Boyd Walden, into membership in the club and presented her certificate of membership. Boyd Walden pinned Jane’s official club pin on her.
Gardner had the honor of presenting 10-year club-attendance pins to Mike Bush and Burnard Exley. Gardner also presented the President Excellence patch and pin to Past President Ronny Gerrald for his excellent leadership and increase in membership during his year as president, 2013-2014.
For the first time in its history, a club member has been elected as district governor. DGE Chip Nedza was elected to serve 18N District as district governor for the year 2014-15. Nedza spends hours each week working with clubs in the area on vision screening and other projects.
Robert Tyler Mock of the Richmond Hill Toastmasters Club was the evening’s speaker. Mock entertained those present with stories of his different employment positions through the years, planning for retirement, retirement and his bucket list and goals that he is working to accomplish.
Anyone interested in joining the club can contact a member or write to P.O. Box 798, Richmond Hill, GA.
