Attendees of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia’s annual meeting Tuesday hold up signs to announce the results of the 2014 fundraising campaign. The 12 branches of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia raised more than $650,000, including more than $48,000 from the Richmond Hill branch.

The Richmond Hill branch of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia beat its 2014 campaign fundraising goal by more than $6,000 — bringing in a total of $48,777.

The announcement was made Tuesday during the 159th annual meeting of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia at The Armstrong Center in Savannah.

The overall organization, which operates 12 branches in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, McIntosh and Glynn counties, raised $652,108 during the annual campaign.

“The funds it possible for thousands of kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school, for countless families to reconnect and grow together, and many people access to education and training to reach their full potential,” said Rachel Bowman with the YMCA of Coastal Georgia.

The business portion of the evening focused on recapping the recent work of the Y along with looking ahead to the future, the nomination of new volunteer leaders and a salute to retiring board members, exceptional volunteers and staff.

In 2013, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia provided the communities it served with a total community benefit of $3,123,077, including direct financial assistance provided to more than 22,000 people who otherwise would not have been able to enjoy YMCA programs or memberships.

Among the order of business of the evening was the exchange of the nomination of new board chairs and members.

The incoming Corporate Board of Directors elected new or returning are: Judge Mary Kathryn Moss, Leo Beckmann, Wayne Bland, Gary Davis, LTC William Bowman, Tamala Fulton, Diana Morrison, Al Pace, Dave Pearl, Steven Price and Ryan Schneider.

At the Richmond Hill Branch, Carey Daughtry was installed as chair, and Brad Brookshire and Martha Coffield were added to the Board of Management.
