This time of year, Christians celebrate the coming to Earth of a savior — Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Many non-Christians still recognize it as a commemoration of the birth of a significant historical figure. What we primarily see is a manger scene with a little baby in it with Mary and Joseph, angels and animals surrounding him.
Sometimes, without it being intentional, we miss the reason why this baby even came to Earth. He is recognized as a great teacher and doer of good, but it goes much deeper than this. He came to change lives and ended up giving up his own life to make this possible.
One of the key changes he brings is the thing most people yearn for: peace.
In Isaiah 9:6, it was prophesied that he would be the “prince of peace.” In Luke 2:14, the angels proclaimed that his birth would result in “peace on Earth and good will towards men.” And then Jesus told his disciples, in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”
During this holiday season, most people end up getting stressed and overwhelmed. Peace is not a word they would use to describe the way they feel. The hustle and bustle takes its toll, and people wish the season would hurry and be over.
What we need to realize is that God still offers peace to those who will accept his son as their savior and Lord. No matter what you are going through, you can experience peace.
My prayer for this community is that you will find the peace you so desperately need. If we can ever assist you in finding this peace, please feel free to call.
