A group of Savannah Area Board of Realtors in Bryan County helped bring cheer to a few local children and families in need earlier this week with a donation to the Bryan County Children’s Fund.
Monday the group met with Children’s Fund organizers at the Richmond Hill Youth Center to hand over dozens of wrapped toys and a check for $1,000.
Anastasia Phillips, chairman for Adopt a Family Savannah for the Savannah Area Board of Realtors, said several local real estate offices, including Keller Williams, Remax/Accent, Century 21 and Robin Lance Realty, came together to adopt 15 children through the BCCF’s Christmas stocking fund program, and also donate to local food pantries.
“We have done this for a number of years where we adopt a number of children around Christmas with food as well throughout all of Bryan County,” Phillips said.
Audrey Singleton, who heads the Richmond Hill Montessori Preschool, has been working with the BCCF organizers for more than 11 years. She expressed gratitude toward all who help out, including the Good Old Boys, whose annual Santa Scramble Golf Tournament raises funds for BCCF.
“It would not even possible with the support of our community, the support of several of our local churches, the support of the Montessori preschool and the support of the volunteer that shop and bag and give endless hours of their time in the week before Christmas,” she said.
“The huge blessing from the Good Old Boys golf tournament — they donate the entire proceeds from that tournament they have in November. This allows us to do nothing but to shop for these families and fill their wish list.”
