The Bryan County Bark Park will host its first dog-and-child friendly outdoor movie-screening fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ice Cream Stop at the Publix shopping center on Highway 144.
This event, which will feature the movie “Hotel for Dogs,” will raise funds for the building of the county’s dog park at Henderson Park.
Entry is free and well-behaved dogs are encouraged to attend.
Ice Cream Stop owners Bill and Gayle Pollard will donate a percentage of all proceeds from meal and ice-cream sales during the screening. Meal deals include the purchase of a hot dog, chips or popcorn with a drink for $3, or the same meal plus ice cream for $5. If the evening is chilly, hot chocolate will be available for purchase and free ice cream will be provided for dogs in attendance.
Face Painting starting at $3 will be available from Painted By Lisa, who is donating 50 percent of all proceeds to the Bark Park’s fundraising efforts.
Building of the park will begin before the end of the year, with opening of phase one scheduled for early 2014.
Donations may be tax-deductible.
