Retribution was delivered to both the boys and girls RHHS soccer teams on Tuesday. Last week, they both suffered frustratingly narrow losses to rival teams, but both came back this week with victories with the girls beating St. Vincent’s and the boys beating BC.

The girls won 2-1 in overtime. Laura Nunnery scored in the first half with an assist from Lauren Hall. St. Vincent’s evened it up with about nine minutes left in the half.

The Lady Wildcats won it in overtime on a through ball from Nunnery to sophomore Katie Berry who shot past the keeper in the first overtime.

The second overtime was keep away. St. Vincent's only had one decent shot in the two overtimes. Sarah Parker had 10 saves.

"Fantastic game," said head girls coach Steve Kollman. "Two very evenly matched teams playing fast, hard, and smart. Our defense was stellar and outplayed their back line. Samantha Cooper, Ginny Freeman, Megan Guarino, Kristen Oddi and Katie Bergsmith outhustled them most of the game."

The boys beat BC 2-1 with goals scored by Javier Arbelaez and Brian Wood, an assist by Nick Harris, and seven saves by Sam Vernon.

"Great game for the standings and confidence," said head boys coach Wade Wright. "Just beating BC is a lift to our game. I was pleased how well we controlled the game from the beginning to the end. A great indicator to who is in control is the number of corner kicks a team creates, we had 8 to their 0. We just need to keep working on creating chances to score and scoring. It was a solid game all around.
"

The teams had region matches against South Effingham on Friday, but results were not available as of press time.

They play again at home on Tuesday night against Liberty County.
