Nov. 6-8: Operation Cash for Candy — Simply Children’s Dentistry in Savannah wants to help kids fight cavities this Halloween by participating in a healthy local tradition. Kids 12 and under are invited to bring their Halloween loot to Simply Children’s Dentistry at 613 Stephenson Ave. in Savannah from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today-Thursday and from 8 a.m.-noon Friday and trade it in for cash. The staff will pay $1 for every pound of candy and they’ll also throw in a prize and a toothbrush to sweeten the deal. The maximum payout is $5 per child and all candy will be sent overseas to troops. For more information, call 353-9993 or visit the website at simplychildrens.com.

Nov. 10
Kids ROCK Savannah 1-mile fun run — Daffin Park is the place to be for kids grades K-7 who want to catch all the excitement of the Savannah Rock n’ Roll Marathon on Nov. 9 but may not be ready to run 13 or 26 miles. Participants can become “full marathon” finishers by completing a 25.2-mile training program prior to race day or simply running, walking or jogging the 1-mile course on race day. All finishers will receive an official race number, T-shirt, goodie bag and colorful medal. The race begins at 2 p.m. For more information, email cmcgregor@competitorgroup.com.

Nov. 11
Veterans Day observance — The city of Richmond Hill will hold its annual observance and wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. in J. F. Gregory Park.  The observance will feature speakers, a 21-gun salute, posting of the colors, laying of the wreath and brick dedications by the Exchange Club and more.
