Editor, This is to the committee of the Richmond Hill seafood festival. The Saturday morning of the festival, my 5-year-old grandson and son-in-law, both natives of Black Creek, arrived for the annual car show that had been advertised on the website only to find out it had been canceled.
My son has been restoring his truck for years and working nonstop weekends just to get ready for this special event. It’s something his uncle has been doing for the last several years and something he was very excited about, as well as my little grandson.
Then they got there that morning to find out it had been canceled because, my son was told, the chief of police didn’t like it. Can you tell me the reason for canceling the family event? The people should have been given some consideration of notice in the cancellation of this event. Why does the police chief have all the say? This cancellation devastated my little grandson and not to mention disappointed my son.
Three families went home who were entering and didn’t even stay for the festival. It is a sad day when willing members of a community want to volunteer their time to share their classic cars with the public. And this lack of communication has probably made our county look bad in the car club community.
