Oct. 4-6: Oktoberfest on River Street — Downtown Savannah is hosting its 30th annual weekend-long festival on the river celebrating fall, food, beer and fun. Special attractions include wiener dog races, bratwurst tasting, sausage eating contests and a River Street keg roll. There will also be live music and a Beer Garden. The event kicks off in Rousakis Plaza at noon Friday and doesn’t end until 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 912-234-0295.

Oct. 5:
Richmond Hill Pumpkin Patch — For the 14th year, the Richmond Hill Garden Club will host a morning full of pumpkins and the feeling of fall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at J.F. Gregory Park. Garden club volunteers will be selling 500 pumpkins as well as a variety of seasonal plants and flowers. Guests are invited to play games, take pictures with the pumpkins, compete in a bake-off to help the club raise money to fund a college scholarship for a Richmond Hill High School student. Poppell Farms grand season opening — The 10-acre farm and corn maze in Odum will host its grand opening for the 2013 fall season. The farm is open Fridays through Sundays and is located at 1765 Hyma Poppell Loop. For more info or to make reservations, call 912-586-2215.
