ATLANTA — Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler will be a keynote speaker during an employment-law and legislative-issues update from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Coastal Electric Membership Cooperative, 1265 S. Coastal Highway 17 in Midway.
The Georgia Department of Labor is teaming with the State Employer Committee to offer a course for human-resource and business professionals looking for ways to handle management challenges. Butler will provide an update on local, state and federal legislative issues impacting employers and business this year, as well as challenges that could affect them in the next few years. He also will give an update on the GDOL in 2013.
Rizer will offer advice on best practices in unemployment-insurance claims and appeals representation. Martin, a partner with Constangy, Brooks and Smith LLC, will speak on managing with today’s cultural influences.
Betts will address “Employers Like Me — Sustainable Health-Care Innovations” and provide information to help non-health related employers establish a new peer-to-peer networking group.
Seating is limited, and pre-registration is encouraged. The cost is $60 per person and $50 per company for additional attendees. Registration at the door is $75. Attendees can receive six Human Resources Certification Institute recertification credits for attending. Registration includes a light breakfast and lunch.
