The Bryan County Board of Education announced Friday the hiring of four assistant principals.
The new administrators will fill vacancies at Lanier Primary, Bryan County Middle, Richmond Hill Primary and Richmond Hill Elementary:
• Dr. Lynnie Brooke Clemens, Lanier Primary. Clemens, currently a second-grade teacher at Mill Creek Elementary in Statesboro. Clemens, is a former Bryan County Schools teacher of the year for the 2004-2005 academic year. She’s been a teacher, functional technology specialist and media specialist in her career.
• Laine Lynch, Bryan County Middle School. Lynch is currently a counselor at BCMS, where she’s worked for the last seven years. She was previously an elementary school teacher for eight years and a middle school counselor for five years.
• Stephen Sirmans, Richmond Hill Primary. Sirmans worked the past 13 years as an elementary school teacher in Coffee County, where he also was a member of the school district’s leadership team and was a 2003-2004 nominee for teacher of the year.
• Karen Smith, Richmond Hill Elementary. Smith is a teacher at RHES, where’s worked the past 11 years. She’s served on various leadership teams during that period.
The BoE went into closed to discuss the appointments and approved them in open session afterward. The names were released Friday in a press release.
