The Burning of Darien Civil War Commemorative Re-enactment Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 15 at the Waterfront Park in downtown Darien.
On June 11, 1863, the city of Darien was burned by Union forces. The festival marks a 150th commemoration of that tragic event.
Re-enactors will be present for cannon firings living history demonstrations. Boat tours, with historical talks by historian Buddy Sullivan, will be available.
The festival is free, though there is a charge for boat tours.

Ranger Camp
Fort Morris’ Junior Ranger Camp is set for 9 a.m.-noon June 11-15.
The camp is for children ages 7-12. This year’s theme is “Feathers, Fins and Furs”. The rangers will focus on Fort Morris, Sunbury, wildlife and nature through activities, games, crafts and special guests.
Fort Morris is located 7 miles east of Interstate 95 exit 76  via Highway 84 and Islands Highway in Sunbury.
Cost is $30 per child for the week. Space is limited. Call 912-884-5999.

Vacation Bible school
Beulah Baptist Church in Pembroke will be hosting vacation Bible school from 6-8:30 p.m. June 17-21.
The theme is “Facing Fear, Trusting God,” and classes are for children in pre-K through grade 6. Supper will be provided.

Request for volunteers
Odyssey Hospice of Savannah and Statesboro is looking for giving people to help make a difference with its hospice patients. Those who enjoy playing cards, singing and talking with others, as well as those who can do light office work, are encouraged to volunteer.
