ATLANTA – A memorable treasure was unwrapped for a Bryan County man courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. Daniel Thomas of Richmond Hill won a $100,000 top prize playing the new instant game Jumbo Bucks Crossword.

Thomas, who works in the gift wrapping business, stopped at Clyde’s Market, 11286 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway, after work to purchase a ticket. The 32-year-old scratched it at home.

“I didn’t believe it,” Thomas recalled. “I said, ‘I’ve got to go check this out!’ So, I went back to the store.”

The lucky lottery winner is surprised but has no plans at the moment for his winnings.

“I’m still trying to soak it in,” he shared.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.

More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
