The Richmond Hill Historical Society will host a lecture and book-signing event featuring Sallie Ann Robinson, an author, chef and historian of Gullah culture.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Richmond Hill Museum.
Robinson has appeared on numerous television programs featuring her culinary talents. Numerous articles have been written in national magazines showcasing Robinson’s life experiences as a girl growing up in a family residing on Dufuskie Island for six generations and on her work to preserve the history of the Gullah culture. Robinson was one of the students portrayed in the Pat Conroy novel, “The Water Is Wide.”
