Do butterflies attack your stomach whenever you are asked to speak before a group? Can you confidently express your thoughts and ideas? Do you have the nerve to ask your boss for a raise?

Public speaking is listed as one of the top fears people possess. If you are like most people, public speaking is probably not your favorite pastime. Yet survey after survey shows that presentation skills are crucial to success in the workplace and in community leadership. The person with strong communication skills has a clear advantage over tongue-tied colleagues. Many people pay thousands of dollars for seminars to gain the skill and confidence necessary to face an audience.

But another option is less expensive and held in high regard in business circles and communities - Toastmasters International. This organization with approximately 211,000 members in 10,500 clubs in 90 countries has been around for more than 80 years and offers a proven - and enjoyable - way to practice and hone the communication and leadership skills of its members.

Richmond Hill chartered its very own Toastmasters Club on April 7th with twenty members. "It’s Toastmasters, Ya’ll" meets every Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Magnolia Manor.

Join us on Monday, April 28th when It’s Toastmasters, Ya’ll is honored to welcome Mayor Davis at the Club meeting to read Governor Sonny Perdue’s proclamation. It is also a great opportunity to learn more about Toastmasters and how it may help you in your personal and professional growth.
