The 200 Club of the Coastal Empire, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to families of first responders who lose their lives in the line of duty, will kick off its inaugural Legacy of Service Series with an advance screening of the film “Parker” at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Lucas Theater, 32 Abercorn St. in Savannah. “Parker” was produced by Stratton Leopold of Savannah.
Tickets cost $20 per person and $10 for first responders and can be purchased online at http://tickets.savannahboxoffice.com/eventperformances.asp?evt=455.
All proceeds benefit The 200 Club.
“Parker,” which will be released in theaters across the country Jan. 25, stars Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez. The rated-R movie tells the story of a professional thief, Parker, who lives by a personal code of ethics: Don’t steal from people who can’t afford it and don’t hurt people who don’t deserve it. But on a heist, Parker’s crew double-crosses him and leaves him for dead. Determined to make sure they regret it, Parker tracks them to Palm Beach and disguises himself as a rich Texan, takes on an unlikely partner and plans to get revenge.
The series also will include the following fundraisers this year:
• The Valor Awards (February)
• The Savannah Mile (May)
• The Memorial Golf Tournament and Silent Auction (September)
• The Shields for Fallen Heroes Campaign (October)
