A group of volunteers from the community, United Way/ Hands on Savannah and Gulfstream joined forces Saturday to help “make a difference” at the Richmond Hill Recreation Center on Mimosa Street.
The group spent the day painting the interior and exterior of the building in honor of Make a Difference Day.
“This is the first time the United Way/ Hands on Savannah and Gulfstream have been able to present $1,000 … for this project,” Kristi Cox, United Way of Bryan County director, said. “We appreciate all of our volunteers who are coming to make a difference.”
Surlener Waites was one the volunteers wielding a paint brush and giving up her Saturday for a good cause.
“I like volunteering, and every time I can, I am up for it,” she said. “I am volunteering with Gulfstream, and we have opportunities to volunteer every quarter. I am volunteering with Gulfstream, and we have opportunities to volunteer every quarter. I am new to the company and this was my first opportunity I had to volunteer.”
