Cemetery dedication: The Pembroke City Council will hold a dedication service for Northside Cemetery renovations at 4 p.m. Sunday at the center court of the cemetery.
Renovations, which began in 2011, include new fencing with capped brick columns, paving, new signage, lighting, pavers and benches. The project was primarily paid for by more than $145,000 in special local option sales tax funds. Private donations were also contributed.

Life Teen
St. Anne Catholic Church holds Life Teen Mass at 5:30 p.m. every first and third Sunday at 10550 Ford Ave. The next will be Sunday. Life Teen is designed to deal with the issues facing today’s teenagers. For more information, email Gayla@stannerh.org or call 756-3343.  

Photo contest
PawParazzi is holding a dog Halloween-costume photo contest this month at 11408 Ford Ave.
Participants can dress their dogs in costumes and have their pets’ pictures taken in the store for entry in the contest. Pictures will be taken through Wednesday, with in-store voting being held Thursday-Oct. 30. The winner will be announced Oct. 31.
The winning entry will receive a $50 gift basket, $10 off an in-store purchase excluding food and treats and $5 off a grooming package. For more information, call 912-756-8807.

Annual meeting
The Bryan County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center at 91 Lanier St. in Pembroke. All members are invited to attend.

Chicken dinner
The Bryan Masonic Lodge will hold a chicken dinner fundraiser from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the lodge hall, 33 Bass Drive off Edsel Drive. Dinners include half of a grilled chicken, green beans, cooked apples, barbecue sauce and bread for $7. Call Cliff Davis at 657-8823 for pre-orders. Delivery is available in the area for orders of six or more dinners.

Pumpkin Patch Party
Ellabell United Methodist Church will host a Pumpkin Patch Party from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Activities will include hay rides, a cake walk, arts and craft sales, football toss, pumpkin roll, face painting and more. There will also be hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and free prizes.
The event is free and open to all ages. Visitors are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

Freeman fundraiser
Pride Pools will host its second annual Big Green Egg Fest/Cook-off fundraiser from 11 a.m-3 p.m.  Oct. 27 at 11 Gateway Blvd. S in the Savannah Festival Outlet Center.
Proceeds from the event will benefit “The Matthew Freeman Project: Pens and Paper for Peace,” an initiative inspired by Richmond Hill native Marine Capt. Matthew Freeman, who was killed in action in 2009 in Afghanistan.
The judging for the cook off will take place at 1 p.m. and prizes will be awarded immediately after.

Spooktacular
Pembroke is gearing up for its annual Spooktacular celebration set for Oct. 27 in downtown Pembroke that will include new events this year.
The inaugural Spooktacular 5K will start at 8 a.m. Participants can register at www.active.com
Downtown shopping and the Spooktacular Scavenger Hunt will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Whistlestop Farmers Market will be up and running from 4-7 p.m. in DuBois Square.
The fourth annual North Bryan Chamber of Commerce Pumpkin Carving Contest is a 5 p.m., with contest winners being announced at 6 p.m. Hayrides leaving from DuBois Square will be ongoing from 5-7 p.m, and a Spooktacular movie will be shown in the square at 7 p.m. For more information, call 653-0400.
