The Redskins returned home to Redskin Field Wednesday night for a game against non-region opponent McIntosh County and lost in a close game 7-6.

Wesley Wilkes took the mound for the Redskins with Justin Covington starting as catcher. McIntosh County came to the plate first and quickly put runners on with a walk and a hit to the BCHS shortstop Aaron Dudley, who made a tremendous catch and throw, but was unable to reach first before the runner.

The third McIntosh batter slammed a ball to the BCHS shortstop Dudley who threw to second baseman Ricky Myrick who then relayed the ball to first for the double play. The Redskins held McIntosh to the one run and came back to score when Dudley walked and scored on the overthrow to second base.

Wilkes also took a walk and was sent home by Kurt Shuman, who hit a shallow fly ball to right field. Bryce Mingledorf followed with another hit to right field to score Shuman and put the Redskins up 3-1.

Both teams’ defense held strong in the second and neither was able to extend their score. McIntosh took the lead in the third and held the Redskins to put them up 6-3. The Redskins came back strong but were unable to undo the damage of the third inning.
