Hundreds of kids were beaming with smiles Saturday as they enjoyed carnival-style games, sweet treats and more at George Washington Carver Elementary School during the third annual Fall Festival.
Sponsored by the CES and Richmond Hill Primary Schools’ parent/teacher/student organizations, the festival offered more than 25 games and activity booths like a ring toss, a dunking booth, basketball toss, face painting, a crab race with live hermit crabs and more.
Zumba instructors were also on hand to show off moves from ZumbAtomic, Zumba’s exercise program for kids, and a silent auction inside the school offered many items and baskets full of goodies.
Melissa Hagan was at the event with her daughter, Emily Hagan, and said both of them were enjoying the day.
“She wanted to come out and we always like to go to the fall festival type things,” Melissa Hagan said.
Emily said her favorite part of the event was the duck pond, where kids could pick a duck for a prize. She also really enjoyed the dunking booth.
“She likes the idea of being able to dunk her teachers,” her mother said.
Sharon Cartwright was at the event with her daughters, who were having fun playing games, she said.
“The girls have had a good time, a favorite of theirs has been the cake walk,” Cartwright said, adding her 6-year-old daughter Mackenzie, who just had a birthday, won a cake. “The grandparents came in town for her birthday and it’s nice to have something like this to do.”
