Museum open house: Black Creek School Museum’s annual meeting and open house is from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bryan County Board of Education central office.
The public is invited to come and meet with the museum committee for short presentation of what has been accomplished the past year and information on future plans for the museum.
The museum room will also be open for viewing the papers, photos and artifacts collected concerning early schooling in the county, particularly Black Creek School.

Free fishing
The Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery will host a free fishing event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the hatchery on Ford Avenue in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
Kids fishing ponds will be open to children ages 15 and under. Participants will need to bring their own fishing gear and bait. Archery, kayaking and the Laser Shot hunting simulator will be available, along with free hot dogs and drinks.

Fishing fundraiser
The Fishing for Angels benefit fishing tourney is Saturday at Kilkenny Marina in Richmond Hill.
The entry fee is $60 per angler, and sponsorship fees are $250 and $100.
Place winners will be determined by total weight of three fish: one trout, one redfish and one flounder. Cash prizes are $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $100 for third place.
Funds raised will benefit the fight against spinal muscular atrophy.

Trike-A-Thon
A Trike-A-Thon is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Jump N’ Jacks Family Fun Center in Richmond Hill.
All donations will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and all participants will receive a medal.

Book fair
The Usborne Haven book fair, which will benefit the Richmond Hill Public Library, will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 27-28 at the library, 9607 Ford Ave.
The library’s goal is to get more toddler- and middle school-age book on the shelves.

Fundraiser dinner
The Bryan Neck Missionary Baptist Church August Birth Month group will hold a fundraiser dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 27-28 at the church, 16525 Highway 144.
Dinners are $10 and slabs of ribs are $20. Dinners include barbecue ribs, barbecue chicken, fried shrimp, macaroni and cheese, red rice, green beans and corn bread.

Dolphin program
The Dolphin Project will hold a program and workshop from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Richmond Hill Historical Museum on Ford Avenue.
Learn amazing facts about local bottlenose dolphin with an informative and entertaining program embedded with video and dolphin vocalizations. A research training workshop sponsored by The Dolphin Project will follow the program. The program and workshop are appropriate for ages 10 and up. Dolphin-related books and merchandise will be available for sale, with all proceeds going to dolphin research.

Coastal Green
The Georgia Green Industry Association is sponsoring Coastal Green 2012 on Sept. 28 at the Coastal Gardens and Bamboo Farm off Highway 17 in Savannah.
Speakers will include landscape specialist Bodie Pennisi, nursery specialist Matthew Chappell, weed specialist Mark Czarnota, forest health specialist Mark Raines and entomologist Kris Braman. The all-day event is good for three hours of pesticide recertification credits for commercial applicators.
