Most football coaches I know don't like talking about the playoffs until they're actually IN the playoffs. I suspect Richmond Hill High School coach Lyman Guy is no exception.
With that said, the folks at the Georgia High School Football Daily Newsletter have already projected the playoff fields for five of the six classifications -- Class A is a different animal this year for convoluted reasons dealing with private schools.
And yep, RHHS is projected to make it into the field as the No. 3 seed from 3-AAAAA. In their first year in Class AAAAA.
Not too shabby. Of course, the Wildcats have been beating the daylights out of Savannah schools recently and they may continue that habit tonight against Savannah High. They'll get into the meat of the schedule after a bye-week next week. That's when they'll face Glynn Academy, the projected No. 2 seed from 3-AAAAA. What follows then will be interesting, to say the least.
Here's a look at the projections from GHSFD. Region 3-AAAAA teams and their projected opponents in bold.
