The following reports are from the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department: Burglary: July 17 — While deputies were at Parker’s on Highway 17 in Richmond Hill, a woman approached them around 11:30 p.m. and said her home had been broken into. The screen on the bathroom window had been cut and the back door was open. No one was inside the house, but deputies noted the house was in “complete disarray.” An Xbox 360, a diamond ring, Mac computer and a handgun had been taken from the residence.

July 20 — Deputies responded just before 8 a.m. to Clarktown Road in Richmond Hill after a man reported that a window on his car had been busted and his shed broken into. Nothing was taken from the car, but a pistol was taken from the shed. The man said whoever took the pistol knew where the gun was hidden.

July 21 — Deputies responded to Junk Yard Road in Ellabell after a man reported 100 pounds of copper tubing missing from his property.

Entering auto

July 17 — Deputies responded around 7 a.m. to Hidden Creek Drive in Ellabell after a man reported several items missing from his vehicle. He said sometime between 11:30 p.m. July 16 and 7 a.m. July 17, someone took a Dell laptop computer and Garmin GPS from his truck. The report did not say whether the man’s truck was locked.

Theft by taking

July 16 — Deputies responded around 6 p.m. to Turkey Trot Trail in Richmond Hill when a man reported 30 rolls of fencing missing from his property. He said someone had cut the lock and moved the gate to his property in order to steal the fencing, valued at $300 per roll.
July 17 — Around 1 p.m. deputies responded to Bill Futch Road in Ellabell after a woman said several firearms that belonged to her were stolen. The woman said she moved from John Coursey Road to Bill Futch Road and found two handguns, three rifles and one shotgun missing from her things.

DUI

June 28 — A Savannah woman was arrested just before 10:30 p.m. on Highway 280 near Blitchton. She was pulled over after deputies noticed she was weaving over the roadway.

July 20 — An Ellabell man was pulled over just after 8 p.m. after he ran a stop sign and ran off the side of the road. The man pulled into a driveway on Arden Park Drive and behind a private residence before stopping. Deputies smelled alcohol on the man, who said he’d “had a few” drinks. When deputies told the man he was on private property, he said he “wasn’t hurting anybody.” The man failed sobriety tests and was arrested.

July 22 — Deputies stopped a Guyton woman around 12:30 a.m. on Highway 280 after she was seen driving slowly and weaving over the road. The woman had slurred speech, a flushed face and bloodshot eyes. She said she drank two beers. She failed sobriety tests and was arrested.
