Residents who missed out on early voting for the July 31 primary election have one more opportunity to cast their ballots for countywide, statewide and special elections.
Election Day is Tuesday and polls will be open at various locations throughout the county from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
According to Chief Registrar Warren Miller, more than 1,800 of the county’s 21,000 registered voters turned out on both ends of the county for early voting, which ended Friday.
Miller said he doesn’t expect a heavy turnout on Election Day.
“In the past it’s pretty much however early voting went, whether it was fast or slow, that’s usually how Election Day goes,” he said.
Precinct lines have changed along with some precincts, Miller said. New voter registration cards were mailed out, and he encourages voters to check if their polling place has also changed before going to vote.
Miller said it is beneficial for voters to visit the My Voter Page at www.sos.ga.gov/mvp and check their polling place location. Also on the website, voters can familiarize themselves with this year’s ballot, which includes several questions for both Democratic and Republican parties, he said.
“We don’t rush (voters), but it would eliminate lines being longer if they are familiar with the ballot,” Miller said.
Also on the ballot, voters will also have the opportunity to help decide the fate of the transportation special purpose local option sales tax (TSPLOST) referendum in the region.
Local contested races listed on the Republican ballot include sheriff, clerk of superior court, tax commissioner and District 3 county commissioner.
Also included on the Republican ballot are local uncontested races for probate judge, coroner, county commission chairman, board of education vice chair, state court judge and solicitor-general.
A list of polling places is also available on Bryan County’s website at http://www.bryancountyga.org/departments/voting/polling_places.php.
