More than 100 people gathered Monday in the Richmond Hill City Center to meet and listen to local candidates vying to be the leaders of Bryan County for the next four years.
The candidate meet-and-greet forum hosted by the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce offered residents an opportunity to meet the Republican candidates in the contested races for sheriff, tax commissioner, clerk of superior court and District 3 commissioner.
All eight candidates had 3-5 minutes to introduce themselves to the crowd. They also took time to explain why they believe they provide the best options for leadership, experience, dedication and more to residents.
Additionally, Ray Pittman and Mike Sisco with the Bryan County Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax committee made a presentation about the penny tax. They also answered questions from the crowd about various county and regional projects.
Early voting for the July 31 primary is under way from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday at the Bryan County Courthouse in Pembroke and the County Administrative Complex in South Bryan. Voters can also cast ballot on Election Day Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at their designated polling place.

Read what the candidates had to say in the July 25 edition of the News.
