The cities of Pembroke and Richmond Hill will both celebrate Georgia Cities Week April 22-28.
Both cities will have numerous activities to show appreciation for local volunteers, city employees and the residents of the community.
In Richmond Hill, part of the celebration includes a business breakfast Monday at 8 a.m. at Magnolia Manor hosted by the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce and the city. Guest speaker U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga. will be on hand to speak about government roles in everyday life.
The city will also host an employee recognition and awards luncheon on April 25.
Other activities include tours of City Hall, the Richmond Hill Fire Department and the Richmond Hill Police Department.
In Pembroke, cities week activities begin Monday with a city employee recognition luncheon for paid employees at the J Dixie Harn Community Center in Pembroke starting at noon.
City volunteers will be recognized Tuesday at a volunteer reception at 6 p.m. also at the J. Dixie Harn Community Center.
Wednesday local students and community members will have the opportunity to participate in a Public Safety Day to be held Wednesday in the park area in front of Bryan County Elementary School at the corner of Main and Smith Streets.
Public Safety displays from local fire and police departments and other activities including bicycle safety, home safety and smoke alarm maintenance will be available throughout the day.
