Richmond Hill officials began Tuesday with a list of 29 applicants for the city manager's job. They narrowed it down to a group of eight finalists during a meeting at Richmond Hill City Hall.
Names of the eight finalists could be made public today after each of the candidates is contacted, according to Pam Pendrak, the human resources director for the city.
Pendrak said applicants for the job came "from all over the place,."
The candidates were screened by a committee that included Mayor Harold Fowler, city council members Jan Bass and Van Hunter, Pendrak and John Reynolds, chairman of the Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce.
"What we're looking for is to narrow it down to the ones we want to interview," Fowler said before the committee met in in executive session. "Hopefully it'll be anywhere from three to I hope not any more than 10, but whatever we come up with, we'll set up interviews with those individuals and then make our recommendation to council."
The job has been vacant since former city manager Mike Melton was fired in January.
