On Thursday night, the Bryan County High School JV baseball team came out strong with an 18-4 win against the Country Day Hornets in five innings.
Freshman Garrett Banks did a remarkable job on the mound, pitching all five innings of the game.
The Redskins' bats were also hot, with Chase Kromer ripping a triple and Kyle Koskela going 3 for 3 at the plate.
Hoping to carry over the momentum into their own game, the Redskins then took the field, hoping to gain their first win of the season.
Sadly, the Redskins suffered a loss of 11-6 against the Hornets, giving SCD their first region win of the season.
However, there were some highlights to the game. Relief pitcher Corey Cook did a good job closing the game, even with an arm injury.
Brandon Albright went 4 for 5 during the game with one pop fly, while senior Cameron Register managed a double for two RBI's, with a 3-2 count and bases loaded.
Both teams travel to Metter on Monday, hoping for the varsity to pull out its first win.
The varsity game starts at 4 p.m., and the JV game will follow immediately.
