The Richmond Hill City Center is continuing to pack them in — and they’re coming from more and more areas.
In 2011, more than 47,000 people passed through the City Center, according to estimates from Andrea Powers, the center’s director of sales.
A lot of the business has been local, such as family reunions, graduation parties and baby and bridal showers. However, regional businesses have made use of the facility as well.
For example, organizations like Coastal Regional Commission use the City Center for its meetings because of the centralized location, Powers said. Not only has that helped the center, it’s also helped the organization.
“From what I’m hearing … the CRC’s numbers have grown because it is more central for everyone to come here rather than going to Brunswick and they’re getting better participation,” Powers said.
Powers said businesses and organizations throughout the nation also have booked meetings and conferences at the City Center. Most recently, Kansas City-based Health Awareness Clinics booked a seminar there, Powers said.
Not only are regional and national businesses and organizations attracted to the City Center, so are many destination brides, Powers said.
Weekends at the City Center are booked months in advance for weddings, including some scheduled for brides from Charlotte, N.C., Chicago, Jacksonville, Fla., and more, she said.
“Savannah is such a huge destination, but we’re more affordable than some of the hotels and venues in Savannah,” Powers said. “We can offer the setting without the parking issues, the traffic, and our hotels are reasonable and fabulous hotels.”
The City Center boasts 22,800-square feet of meeting space, and can hold up to 400 guests in the grand ballroom.
Three meeting rooms can be found upstairs equipped with the latest technology, and the ballroom can be separated into four separate meeting areas.
