Fort Morris will host its Colonial Christmas from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 10 at the state historic site at 2559 Fort Morris Road, Midway.
Celebrate the holidays as it may have been done in the country’s colonial period at Sunbury long before the modern Santa Claus, Rudolf and the mall. Interpreters and volunteers in historical attire will fire the Christmas muskets as a holiday salute across the countryside, wishing all a joyous season.
Jamie Keena will raise the spirits of visitors with live colonial Christmas music. “The Christmas Story” will be read and the traditional Yule log, representing warmth and light, will be brought in and thrown into a Christmas bonfire that will be lit around twilight.
Caroling of period songs and sharing colonial refreshments will also take place around the fire. Colonial dancing will close out the festive evening and everyone will be invited to join the fun.
Admission is free. For more information, call 884-5999 or email fortmorris@coastalnow.net.
