The Midway Museum will help locals get in the holiday spirit by offering Mrs. Thelma’s English-style tea from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 10.
The teas are a pre-Christmas tradition and are reminiscent of the Colonial period when English customs still were prevalent in Coastal Georgia.
The Midway Museum re-creates life as it would have been lived in a typical planter’s cottage in the 1750s-1870s and exhibits rare artifacts from the colonial era. The museum will be decorated with Colonial-style Christmas decorations, and many of the staff members will be wearing period costumes.
“We are very grateful to the Hale’s Tea Company, which is generously sponsoring our 62nd Christmas tea,” museum Executive Director Diane Kroell said. “Our Christmas teas are a fun way to experience the living history of our coastal region.”
A limited number of tickets are available for $10 per person. The admission fee includes hot tea, scones with clotted cream and other teatime treats.
Reservations are required. Call (912) 884-5837 or email rsvpmidwaymuseum@gmail.com.
