I've been lazy about  updating The Sports Blog lately, but will try to change that ....
And for starters, I'll share this press release which just showed up in my inbox.

Isakson, Chambliss Commemorate November As ‘Military Family Month'

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., joined together to commemorate the month of November as "Military Family Month," which was created by a presidential proclamation to "celebrate the exceptional service, strength, and sacrifice of our military families, whose commitment to our Nation goes above and beyond the call of duty."

Isakson serves on the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs and Chambliss serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"Not only should we express our deep gratitude to the men and women in our armed forces, but also we should recognize the great sacrifices military families make every day and thank them for their contribution to our country," said Isakson. "I urge all Americans to join me in honoring our soldiers' families during the month of November and every day of the year."

"When a service member serves our country in the military, his or her family serves, as well. As we celebrate ‘military family month,' I am reminded of the selflessness and patriotism of all our military families. More importantly, I am reminded of exactly what we ask these families to sacrifice for us every day - their brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers." said Chambliss. "I hope everyone will join me this month in thanking these remarkable men and women for their sacrifice and service to our nation."

President Obama issued a presidential proclamation designating November 2011 as "Military Family Month" calling on "all Americans to honor military families through private actions and public service for the tremendous contributions they make in the support of our service members and our Nation."

Good stuff. I think every month should be military family month.
