Halloween festivities are slated for both North and South Bryan, so princesses grab those tiaras and superheroes put on those uniforms and get ready for games, candy, fun and more throughout the weekend.
Activities in Pembroke begin Saturday, when the city’s Downtown Development Authority will host a fall festival and farmers market in conjunction with the third annual Spooktacular pumpkin carving contest hosted by the North Bryan Chamber of Commerce.
Carved pumpkins can be entered beginning at 4 p.m. at the chamber center on Bacon Street. Judging begins at 6 p.m. and there is a $50 grand prize for the best carved creation, along with various other prizes for first, second and third places in each category.
The fall festival and farmers market is from 6-9 p.m. and boasts hayrides, games, carnival style food, music and much more. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” will also be shown during the festival around 7:45 p.m.
After the fall festival, teens ages 13-18 can mosey over to the Miller Teen Center, where a teen Halloween party will be held from 8:30-11 p.m. Admission is $2 and there will be music by DJ Lionheart, as well as food, drinks, candy and a costume contest. Prizes include an iPod Nano. For more information on the party, call 653-4484.
On Saturday in Richmond Hill, New Life Church off of Hwy. 144 will host a “trunk-or-treat” event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in conjunction with Richmond Hill Vineyard Church. Bounce houses, games, candy and more can be found at the event. For more information, call 727-3369.
Then on Monday, watch out for ghouls and ballerinas in the streets because the cities of Richmond Hill and Pembroke have set the times for trick-or-treating. In Richmond Hill, trick-or-treaters are encouraged to visit homes from 6-9 p.m., while in Pembroke trick-or-treaters can to go door-to-door from 6-8 p.m.
But there are other events Monday, as well. The Richmond Hill Senior Center will host a Halloween party and costume contest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. The public is invited to attend and the Bryan County Health Department will be on hand to give flu shots. The party is at the center at 185 Ball Park Road.
Another “trunk-or-treat” event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Daniel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill that will also offer candy along with games and various other activities for children of all ages. For more information, call 756-3637.
And First Baptist Church in Pembroke will host a “trunk-or-treat” event Monday from 6-8 p.m. The event will be held in the big church parking lot and church members will decorate the trunks of cars and hand out candy. There will also be free hot dogs and drinks and games for kids to enjoy.
