The United Way of Bryan County’s annual campaign is well under way, and nearly half of its goal of $72,000 has been met thanks to the help of several local companies.
One company, Hobart Corp. of Richmond Hill, just finished its company campaign, during which time it raised $23,478 to donate to the local United Way, according to a release from UWBC’s Campaign Chairman Scott Alexander.
UWBC Advisory Board Chairman Wendy Sims said a contribution like this from Hobart is nothing new.
“They always come through for us and the community, and this year was no exception and they did a fabulous job,” Sims said. “(The employees) get really excited about the campaign.”
Hobart Human Resources Manager Lawanda Edenfield said the company has been donating to the cause since the plant was opened in 1978. The employees love giving back to their communities, she said.
“We all feel very fortunate that we have jobs to come to each day,” Edenfield said. “The impact of the economy has hit so many surrounding families. Our workplace campaign is the easiest and most powerful way to invest in our community.”
