Richmond Hill State Fish Hatchery will hold its annual Outdoor Adventure Day from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
Kids’ fishing ponds are open to children 15 and younger. Participants should bring their own fishing gear and bait. Archery and kayaking opportunities will be available in addition to the Laser Shot Hunter Simulator. Participants will receive free hot dogs and drinks.
In honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day, Georgia residents do not need a fishing license or a trout license on Sept. 24 to fish on any public waters in the state, including lakes, streams, ponds and public fishing areas. Residents do not need to obtain a Wildlife Management Area license to fish on a PFA located on a WMA on this day.
Each day, millions of American hunters and anglers work to conserve and improve natural resources. Sportsmen have contributed millions of dollars to the Federal Aid in Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration Programs.
Together with hunting and fishing license fees, these federal aid programs have funded wildlife and sport fish conservation, habitat acquisition and outdoor recreation opportunities both in Georgia and throughout the country.
