Don Roberts, a social studies teacher at Richmond Hill High School, got to answer the questions this week:

1. What do you feel is your greatest achievement?
Overcoming challenges early in life and becoming a productive member of society.

2. What, to you, is perfect happiness?
I’m happiest when my wife is happy, because as most husbands realize, “when Mama’s not happy, ain’t nobody happy.”

3. What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Sometimes it’s best to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.

4. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
To have more patience when necessary.

5. What is your greatest fear?
As a teacher, not living up to my student’s expectations of me.

6. What is your greatest extravagance?
My Ford F-150 Platinum truck.

7. What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My determination and capacity for hard work.

8. What trait do you most admire in another person?
It’s a tie between honesty and sincerity.

9. What trait do you most deplore in another person?
Another tie: hypocrisy and laziness.

10. Who are your favorite musicians?
Rock bands of the ’60s and ’70s – after all, I’m a baby boomer!

11. What are your favorite books?
Those written by Pat Conroy and Garrison Keillor.

12. What talent would you most like to have?
To be able to sing well. When I try to sing, my dogs whine and babies cry.
