Revised plans for what is known as Plantation Village in Richmond Hill Plantation will now head to the Richmond Hill City Council after being OK’d 3-2 Monday night by the city Planning Commission.

The master plan revisions for the 112-acre tract that fronts Ford Avenue just past Timber Trail Road include a decrease of multifamily units from 546 to 286, and an increase of commercial/professional space from 220,000 square feet to 248,000 square feet.

During the regular meeting at City Hall, commissioners Brian Baraniak and Rey Osorio voted in favor of the of the revisions while commissioners Steve Weiss and Curtis Sanders voted against. Chairman Billy Albritton voted in favor of the request to break the tie.

Prior to the vote, attorney John Harvey, on behalf of project developer Steve Croy, encouraged Weiss to recuse himself from voting. The request was due to Weiss being a resident of The Ford Plantation, the upscale gated community located across Hwy. 144 from the planned Plantation Village, and several residents of The Ford Plantation having organized in opposition of Croy’s project.

Harvey noted that Weiss’ decision to vote could be brought in possible future litigation.
