The fifth annual Evening of Jazz for Adult Literacy will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Lucas Theater in Savannah.
Proceeds will benefit the Adult and Community Education Program, which helps adults learn basic literacy skills, earn a GED or prepare for the workforce.
ACE uses a learner-centered approach that takes into account each participant’s motivation for seeking education. The nonprofit program is supported by community donations and funds from the United Way of the Coastal Empire.
The evening will feature Nashville-style swing jazz music arranged and performed by local jazz violinist Ricardo Ochoa and the Bohemian Dream Band.
VIP tickets include a pre-show, food and drink reception at 45 Bistro starting at 6:30 p.m. Opening-act entertainment, a literary performance by local writers, will be provided by Seersucker Live.
Ticket prices range from $15 to $75 for reserved seating and can be purchased at the Savannah Box Office, 216 E. Broughton St. or online at www.savannahboxoffice.com.
For more information or to buy tickets, call The Savannah Box office at 912-525-5050. The event is sponsored by Gulfstream, Hancock Askew & Co., the city of Savannah and the Savannah Morning News.
