In "Captain America..." actor Chris Evans is transformed from a 90-pound weakling into a bulging hunk by the magic of World War II-ear science.

It was 1941 when Captain America was first created for Marvel comics. More than 70 years later, the most patriotic Marvel hero appears on the big screen. Was it worth the wait? It certainly was!
Actor Chris Evans may look familiar to you. This isn’t his first rodeo. Even when it comes to playing comic book heroes, Evans already has portrayed the Human Torch in the “Fantastic Four” franchise and taken part in “The Losers,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “Push.” (OK, so “Push” was never an actual comic book, but it is still about cool superpowers).
He must be on cloud nine because he’s the only actor who can proudly say, “I am Captain America.”
“Captain America: The First Avenger” is what going to the movies is all about. Sure, this is a Disney film (Disney does own Marvel, my friends) but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t pack some serious punch. This is Captain America as he was always meant to be, slamming that shield into the faces of HYDRA terrorists.
The film wonderfully follows the continuity laid down in “Iron Man” and “Thor” because it is the last solo offering before all of our favorites (and the actors who play them) assemble for “The Avengers” film.
In fact, I dare say you should see “Thor” before you head in for “Captain America.” And do make a point to stay in your seat until after the credits roll. There is an incredible sneak peek at “The Avengers” following “Captain America: The First Avenger.”
All in all, “Captain America” stays very true to the comic and is unexpectedly hilarious at certain points. Evans has got heart. And Hugo Weaving is the only actor I would ever trust to bring the evil Red Skull to life.
Bravo! I’m a fan!
Ladies, please don’t skip out on this one because it appears to be a war movie. You will want to join me on Team Cap, or Team Bucky. There’s even Team Howard Stark (that’s Iron Man’s father) and Team Jim Morita. Don’t laugh! He’s my favorite of the Howling Commandos!
