This past weekend I spent a lot of time at our booth at the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival. As usual there were crowds of people walking in front of our booth.

There were people of different race, gender, nationality and social economic status. There were older folks, middle aged adults, young adults, teens, children and babies.

One thing that all these people had in common was the fact that they had needs. Some babies may have needed to be changed. Some children may have needed to be hugged while others may have needed to be spanked.

Some teens may have been in the middle of major decisions for their lives; some deciding to make the right choices rather than the wrong ones.

Some adults may have been right in the middle of a marriage crisis while others wished they had not have had so much to drink.

Some, especially among our elderly may have been in the middle of some major illness. On a spiritual note, many may have been far away from God. The truth of the matter is, that without asking them, there was no way I knew what the individual needs were.

Several years ago I knew an elderly couple who spent their spare time going to public places just to watch people and pray for them. T

hey would sit in the mall and look at the faces of those passing by and could read by their expressions what was going on in their lives. They said they could see joy or excitement or anxiety or pain or trouble and not even knowing these individuals would whisper a prayer for them. We don’t always know what is going on in peoples lives and sometimes we try to hide what is going on in our own lives.

If you are one of those who have problems there is at least a couple of things you can do. First, seek God.

If you are not a Christian seek a relationship with your creator. If you already have that relationship, seek God’s guidance and just tell Him all about your troubles and ask Him to help you. Then have faith and believe God will hear you and help you.

All of us can be attentive to those around us and get into the practice of whispering a prayer for those we suspect may have a need.
