Bryan County residents celebrated the July Fourth holiday with tradition and history with events such as the “Richmond Hill Salutes the Red, White and Blue” Independence Day celebration on Saturday and the annual holiday program Monday at Fort McAllister State Historic Park.

At Fort McAllister, children and adults alike were treated to fun history with old-time games, like tug-of-war, sack races and wheel barrow races. Attendees also had the chance to enjoy cannon and musket firings by Civil War re-enactors, as well as some fresh watermelon.

In J.F. Gregory Park on Saturday, thousands of residents turned out for an evening packed full of live entertainment, including the Paris Luna Band and a variety of food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, kebobs and more catered by the Richmond Hill City Center. The evening was topped off in true July Fourth fashion with a vibrant display of fireworks.
