Bryan County is one of the fastest growing counties on the coast. The Bryan County News is now growing along with it.
The News will begin publishing twice weekly beginning Feb. 28, with its first weekend edition on March 3, News Publisher Mark Griffin announced Wednesday.
“We’re very excited to be increasing delivery of our newspaper to twice per week,” Griffin said. “We’re proud to be Bryan County’s newspaper and look forward to continuing our coverage of the Bryan County community with a weekend edition of the paper.”
The Thursday edition of the News will move to Wednesday. The weekend issue will be delivered on Saturdays and will include Parade magazine.
The paper will continue to be delivered by mail and available in 36 locations throughout Bryan County.
The increase in publication days has been in the planning stages for months and is part of an overall long-range strategy to improve the paper’s content for both readers and advertisers alike, according to Miriam Potter, Editorial Director and part owner.
“We want to continue to be the newspaper people turn to when they want to know what’s going on in Bryan County,” she said. “We believe this is another step in that direction.”
The News’ primary focus of putting Bryan County first will remain, Potter said, though the additional publication day will provide readers with additional feature, sports and entertainment content.
In addition to adding the Saturday edition, the News is beefing up its editorial staff while also debuting a new website.
It can be previewed in its beta form at http://newmedia@bryancountynews.net.
“Nobody knows Bryan County and its people like we do and we’ll continue to provide the most in-depth Bryan County news and information to our readers,” Griffin said. “Our new interactive web site, will compliment our print edition and will allow us to post news in real time. We are committed to our community.”
