Get ready to wet a line because the Richmond Hill Exchange Club will host its 21st annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday.

From 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery off of Hwy. 144, children ages 15 and under who are accompanied by a parent or guardian will be able to fish the day away as a participant in the derby.

Trophies for the largest single fish and most total pounds of fish will be awarded immediately following the derby for ages 6 and under and ages 7 to 12. The children who catch the most total pounds of fish in each age group will receive a U.S. Savings Bond by mail courtesy of Bryan Bank and Trust.

The Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery ponds have been stocked with catfish and bream, and although most participants choose to bring their own fishing supplies, there is a good supply of free bait and fishing poles available at no charge.

There will be a Coke Wagon with a free supply of Coke products from Savannah Coca Cola Bottling and hot dogs from Roger Wood Meats.

The Bryan Lodge of Georgia Masons will be on hand to help make identity kits for the parents of children participating in the tournament. This program is known as GACHIP, and more information can be found at http://www.gachip.org.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., and there is no charge to participate.
