The Bryan County School System has been a catalyst in transforming the community in Bryan County. Families continue to move into the area to be a part of our great school system. As a result, each year system administrators must search for new and dynamic staff that enhance the learning opportunities in our system and address the pressures that are a result of a growing population. As the population continues to grow, our school system is faced with challenges that cannot be allowed to detract from the real goal of our system-educating the children of Bryan County.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Sallie Brewer, asked that the elementary complex principals in Richmond Hill work together with City of Richmond Hill officials to improve the traffic flow on our school campuses. In a collaborative meeting with Richmond Hill Chief of Police, Billy Reynolds, a plan was devised that has improved the flow of traffic on each school campus at the elementary complex and has helped to relieve backing up of traffic on highway 144. Our plan consisted of: (1) increasing the amount of personnel that load children, (2) the creation of an additional pick up line to decrease the wait time, (3) altering the traffic patterns to reduce congestion and increase traffic flow, and (4) assigning specific pick up times to certain grades to reduce the number of vehicles waiting on city streets. We gratefully appreciate the work of the Richmond Hill Police Department in assisting our parents in making this a very smooth beginning of school. We gratefully appreciate the cooperation of our parents in making these procedures so successful and understanding that it is critical for them to follow the plan devised by our group to ensure a safe loading and unloading of our most important assets, our students. Richmond Hill Primary and Richmond Hill Elementary are currently loading in approximately 20 minutes each.

As a school system, we have so much for which to be grateful daily. Each year system administrators and staff meet regularly to address issues and plan for school system improvements for our students and families. Superintendent’s parent and teacher advisory groups meet quarterly to effect change and to set objectives for system improvement. Our primary goal is the establishment of and maintenance of a safe environment for exemplary educational and extracurricular programs for the children of Bryan County.
